The FTP Profile Manager allows to to manage/create FTP profiles on your local machine. A FTP profile is used for making the newsletter online readable. The left side of the profile manager allows you to view and edit the information that is used by a profile. If you have more than one profile available, you can browse through them by clicking the blue navigation buttons. The right side of this windows gives you access to some managing options for the profile. Please note that every profile needs a valid profile name so please enter a name of your choice in the field "Profile Name" before saving it.

New Profile

Allows you to create a new FTP profile that is being used to upload emails so that they can be viewed through a web browser. Any server that supports FTP protocol can be used here.

User Name

Enter the user name in the user name field.

Password

Enter the password in the password field.

Host Name

Enter the host name of the FTP server to be used like "myserver.com" or "123.456.789".

Remote Site Folder

Enter the destination folder on your server that should be used for this connection. You can either enter "/" if you want to use the root directory or you can specify a specific folder by entering its full path, for example "/folder/sub-folder/". It is very important that the first letter is "/", otherwise the emails could not be uploaded to the server.

HTTP Destination

Specifies the destination on the server where the uploaded files are accessible through HTTP protocol. It is very important that this is configured correctly otherwise the subscriber will not be able to view an uploaded email through its web browser. Finding the correct value for this setting might depend on the "Remote Site Folder".

For example, if you enter "myserver.com" as host name and "/newsletters/" as remote site folder, the HTTP Destination is most likely "http://www.myserver.com/newsletters". Since it isn't always that easy as in our example, it might be possible that you have to manually find the correct value for this.

Please bear in mind that your server has to support both HTTP as well as FTP. Use the "Test Profile" feature in order to verify that everything is working fine with the profile.

SSL

Tick this box if control and data transmissions should be encrypted. Unless SSL is not enabled, all data and commands, including your user name and password information, are sent to the server in clear text. Anyone monitoring network traffic can view your credentials and use them to connect to the server. If you are connecting to an FTP server that requires credentials and supports SSL, you should enable this option.

PASV Connection

Enabling this option sends the "PASV" command to the server. This command requests the server to listen on a data port and to wait for a connection rather than initiate one upon receipt of a transfer command. For a description of the behaviours that are specified using this option, see RFC 959, "File Transfer Protocol," Section 3.2, "Establishing Data Connections" and Section 4.1.2, "Transfer Parameter Commands," available at http://www.rfc-editor.org/. If this option is enabled, the FTP server may not send the size of the file and upload progress can always be zero. If this option is disabled, a firewall can raise an alert and block the file upload.

Binary Mode

Enable this option to indicate to the server that the data to be transferred is binary; disable it to indicate that the data is text.

Timeout

Specifies the timeout value which is the amount of seconds the application will wait for data to be received from the server before returning an error, or zero to wait indefinitely. The default timeout value is 30 which is also recommended.

Save Profile

Allows you to save the profile with the entered information. You have to click this button if you wish to save a newly created profile or if you wish to save changes that might have been made on an existing profile. No changes/information will be saved if you do not click this button.

Delete Profile

Allows you to delete the currently displayed FTP profile .

Use Profile

Allows you to select the currently displayed profile for use. This option is only available if you do not directly call the profile manager. For example, if you open the profile manager by selecting it from the "Send" section, this option is available. If you open the profile manager directly by selecting it from the dashboard from from the file menu, this option is unavailable.

Import Profile

Allows you to import a profile file. You can only import those profiles that have been exported by the application through the option "Export Profile".

Export Profile

Allows you to export the currently displayed profile to an external file that can later be imported through the option "Import Profile".

Test Profile

Allows you to run a diagnostic on the currently displayed profile. This feature ensures that your profile is working properly therefore, we highly recommend that you use this feature for every created profile. This test also checks if the HTTP Destination has correctly been set and configured in order to being able to upload newsletters.
