Backup and Recovery

When running MailShelf in the single-user environment, MailShelf provides you backup and recovery options that enables you to back up and restore your entire MailShelf database, which contains all the emails and settings so that any data loss can be avoided.

Backup

Allows you to backup your MailShelf database.

Backup location

Click the "Browse..." button to select the data path in which the backup should be stored.

Password (optional)

To protect your backup against unauthorised access, you can enter a password for encrypting the backup file. Please remember the password. If you forget the password, you will not be able to restore the backup at a later time.

Confirm password

If you have entered a password in the previous step, please re-enter it here for security reasons.

Backup now

Performs the backup. Depending on how many e-mails are in the archive, this process can take a certain amount of time, with enormous archives also several hours.

Recover

Allows you to recover your MailShelf database.

Backup file to recover

Click the "Open..." button to select the backup file that should be recovered.

Enter password

If the backup file has been encrypted with a password while creating the backup, please enter the password here.

Recover now

Recovers the email archive from the selected backup file and also restores all data.
